European Educational Exchanges - Youth For Understanding

In 1985 EEE-YFU was founded as an umbrella organisation for national YFU organisations based in Europe. Youth for Understanding is a non-profit youth exchange organisation, providing exchange programmes for 15 to 18 year old students in more than 50 countries world wide. Today YFU can offer over 50 years of experience in running long-term exchange programmes. The exchanges are based on home-stay programmes throughout the world. What we do                                                                     Image

· promote intercultural exchange programmes in Europe

· Heighten EEE-YFU's visibility and activity on the European level

· organise trainings for YFU staff and volunteers

· provide financial and administrative services to our members

· facilitate intra-European activities such as seminars, meetings and conferences on various topics, ranging from "Europe and Islam" to "Conflict management" and "Intercultural learning"

More than an exchange!

YFU believes that the exchange experience is an educational event that helps the participant to mature in the understanding of other cultures. Before, during and after the exchange experience all participants attend orientation meetings that focus on their personal situation and development as an exchange student. During their stay abroad, the local YFU organisation provides constant support and counselling.

Volunteers

After your participation in one of YFU’s programmes or if you would like to support our activities in general you can become a YFU volunteer.

All over Europe our volunteers are actively involved. They act as liaisons with schools, organise orientation programmes, support students during their exchange experience and train other YFU volunteers. Volunteers are offered opportunities to carry out internships in YFU offices around the world. They can also participate in YFU training activities at both the national and international level.
