Seminar on Promoting Central and Eastern European Destinations

Many YFU organisations have been successfully established in Central and Eastern Europe since the early 1990s. While there is a clear interest from pupils in these countries to go and study in Western Europe, there are very few pupils going on exchange from Western Europe to these countries, as well as within Eastern and Central Europe.

Therefore, as a part of achieving the goal of 1000 intra-European exchanges by 2020, EEE-YFU organised a seminar with the aim to identify ways to increase the attractiveness of Central and European destinations. The objectives of the seminar were to:

  • Explore and identify the challenges to further developing participative volunteer organisations in Europe.
  • Develop strategies for both Western and Eastern YFU organisations to promote long-term youth exchanges to and from Eastern Europe.
  • Exchange good practices in volunteering and its role in organisational development.

The seminar took place in Cluj Napoca, Romania, 22-28 November.
