YES 2002 - "Concept of European Post Cold War Integration"

The topic of the YES 2002 was "Concept of European Post Cold War Integration". The seminar was held in Werbellinsee, Germany on June 29 - July 3. The aim of the seminar was to raise awareness of the historical context and the problems Europe faces as a consequence today. Through the seminar the participants became aware of their responsibilities and of the importance of youth participation in civil society for the shaping of a peaceful Europe. The participants did not have a personal recollection of the Cold war era, but discovered that these times have an effect on their lives. They were given a framework to reflect and discuss cultural and political diversity, "eastern" and "western" values, and means of resolving conflicts. A deeper understanding of different aspects of European integration in the past, the present, and the future was acquired.
