Let's train in recognition of non-formal learning in youth work

Description

This training course seeks to support the development of competences of youth workers and youth leaders for increasing recognition of non-formal learning in their youth work.

The objectives of the course are:

  • Increase understanding of what non-formal learning/education is in the context of youth work;
  • Raise awareness about different levels of recognition of youth work in society;
  • Build capacities for developing and implementing projects which aim to increase the recognition of youth work and non-formal learning;
  • Explore possible links between recognition of non-formal learning and employability/employment of young people and their active participation in societies;
  • Share and dicuss experiences, examples and possibilities of working towards recognition in different societies;
  • Developing partnerships for future action in this field.
YFU Perspective Much of the learning that YFU exchange students experience is through non-formal education and the benefits of this type of learning should be promoted and recognised for what it can achieve.  Participants from YFU will leave this training with a better understanding of the arguments in favour of recognising non-formal learning and ways in which this can be achieved in practice.  By campaigning for the increased recognition of non-formal learning, something that is a priority for EEE-YFU, this will ultimately pave the way for YFU volunteers to be given the full benefits and recognition that their experiences deserve.
